The U.S. Department of Labor projects
that professional and related occupations will grow the
fastest and add more new jobs than any other major
occupational group through the year 2014. A 21.2-percent
increase in the number of professional and related jobs is
projected. Jobs will be found throughout private industry
and government. Among the 20 fastest growing occupations, a
bachelor’s degree is a significant source of education and
training for over half. For example, employment services
ranks among the fastest growing industries in the nation and
is expected to be one that provides the most new jobs. In
this industry, a bachelor’s degree is generally required for
entry. Median salaries ranged from $31,800 to $55,500 in May
2004, depending upon the sector of employment.
