Do you feel like you are not getting as many call backs and responses from your resume? You may feel like your skill set matches up perfectly for a particular position but somehow you keep getting beat out by the fierce competition in today’s market.
The following recommendations should help you separate yourself from the other applicants in order to land a face to face interview with the hiring manager.
* Focus on achievements and results, not on duties
* Avoid non professional email address, voicemails, etc.
* Hire a professional resume writer that has an excellent track record or ask a family member or friend who conducts interviews on a regular basis. Insist on a live interview rather than forms.
* TELL THE TRUTH –Avoid exaggerations and repeating the same words over and over: “responsible for” – etc.
Keywords and More Keywords
Make sure your resume contains keywords that are strongly related to the jobs you are applying for. Check job postings to see what skills companies are seeking and then use those terms in your resume. —Mike Dolan
It is common for your resume to go thru an electronic filtering system and if it does not have a significant amount of key words it will probably never make it to the hiring manager.
I hope these tips have been helpful and I would encourage you to give them a try and see if you notice a difference in the responses that you get using these tips.
