Respiratory Therapy Course
The Associate of Science in Respiratory
Therapy program combines course work with practical skills
and experience in respiratory patient care. Graduates of the
program are eligible to take both entry level (CRT) and
advanced level (RRT) credentialing exams through the
National Board for Respiratory Care. Students who already
hold the CRT credential can enter the program at the
intermediate level, receiving transfer credit for
approximately one-half of the A.S. program.
Online Respiratory Therapy Degree
Graduates of the Associate of Science in
Respiratory Therapy will demonstrate:

General
knowledge of science, social science, and language
arts expected of someone who has earned a degree

Functional knowledge and understanding of
respiratory care theories and practice

Active
participation in respiratory care as professionals
in the field

Practical knowledge and experience of professional
interactions in the field.
The U.S. Department of Labor forecasts
substantial growth in job opportunities for respiratory
therapists. In addition to traditional hospital-related
employment, a growing number of therapists will find work in
home healthcare or the offices of other health
practitioners. Median annual earnings for respiratory
therapists (RRT) in May 2004 were $43,140. Median annual
earnings for respiratory therapy technicians (CRT) were
$36,740.
