How to Turn the Dog Days of Summer into a Shining Success

Updated By Allie Cuno on July 1, 2020

Welcome to the Dog Days of Summer. How are you holding up? Did you know there’s an actual start and end date to this hot, muggy, sweltering time of year? Yep, it’s July 3rd to August 11th. And while the summer sun is still tempting, many prefer the cool, indoor relief over the slow roast of the outdoors.

Stay cool with online school.

If the Dog Days of Summer also find you “working like a dog” at a job you can’t wait to leave, here’s a smart idea. Get started on a degree in the air-conditioned comfort of your home. Or, if you’re a sun worshipper, take your course work poolside. That’s the beauty of online learning. It’s 24/7 flexibility that lets you make the most of your free time … on your lunch break, after the kids are in bed, or 15-minute segments carved out of your busy day.

So get enrolled, turn on the fan, and crack open the laptop … online learning is about to rock your world!

Why earn a degree now?

You may not have noticed but there’s a pandemic going on. Welcome to a world gone topsy-turvy. With the economy going south, earning a degree just makes sense. Making yourself more marketable is arguably one of the best strategies you can take when jobs become scarce. In fact, a new degree just might send your resume to the top of the digital pile.

A degree earned online makes the previously impossible … possible!

Technology is amazing. Just as magic of working remotely during the pandemic has saved millions of American jobs, including mine, so it is with earning your degree online. Who’d have thought that amidst all your work and family duties you could actually earn a degree without stepping foot in a classroom? Imagine completing class assignments while kicking back—waaay back—on the couch like me right now (Don’t tell my boss). Adding distance learning to life’s mix may be a juggling act at first, but the good news is, it’s totally doable.

Time to get creative with time.

Working remotely? Use the saved travel time to start your first class. Canceled flight and vacation plans? That’s 80 extra hours to devote to online learning! The Dog Days of Summer pushing you inside? Work hours cut? You get the picture. Now’s the time to get creative with time to get ahead in life.

Among online schools, Independence University (IU) rules!

For those unfamiliar with IU, consider this: they offer degrees online only which means they’re specialists in the whole distance-learning experience. Degrees in healthcare, business, IT, graphic arts—take your pick. They’re all career and employment focused. Nonprofit means IU invests in its students rather than filling investors’ wallets. IU’s 110% support means no-cost, one-on-one tutoring, your own personal success team, strong social networks, a new tablet and laptop … and that’s just the beginning! If you’re putting in the effort to pursue a degree online, make sure the school you choose puts just as much effort into your learning success.

Don’t let an uncertain economy put you in the doghouse.

OK, enough with the idioms. This is serious stuff. Your future is serious stuff, so call IU at (800) 917-6391. Make a change now that could change the rest of your life.
