How to Thank Your Biggest Supporters
Updated By Shelby on August 25, 2020
It takes a village to raise a child. The same can be said about earning a college degree, especially if you are actually raising a child. College is hard and for someone who is going to school while taking care of their family or working on their career, a lot of help and support is needed and appreciated. With graduation day quickly approaching, it is important that you thank your village for being there for you throughout your educational journey. There are many ways to show your appreciation, so we’ve compiled a list of 10 ways to thank your biggest supporters.
1. Write a thank you letter
It’s common to write a thank you note to someone for giving you a gift or helping you out with something. However, supporting you as you attended college deserves more thanks than three sentences. Write a letter expressing your gratitude for all the help they have given you and support they have shown. Be specific and sincere. Take the time to tell them how much they have meant to you.
2. Give a gift
Give them a present to express your appreciation—something simple but special to show how important they are. A gift can show someone that their service did not go unnoticed, and it can remind them that what they did for you mattered.
3. Perform an act of service
Do something nice for the person who did a lot of nice things for you. Clean their house, run some errands for them, bake them a cake. Take the time out of your busy day to serve them—they deserve it for all the times they helped you and your family while you were in class!
4. Make a list of everything they’ve done for you
What better way to show someone how much you appreciate every little thing they have done for you than to remember all those things? Make a list of everything they did to help you throughout your time in school and how much each thing meant to you. This will show them how important their help was to you and the difference it made in your life.

5. Acknowledge them publicly
Your supporters made it possible for you to accomplish something huge. Shout “thank you” from the rooftops and let the world know how awesome this person is! A public thank you is a special compliment, so dedicate a Facebook post to your supporters or give them a shout out at your graduation party.
6. Send flowers
Who doesn’t love a beautiful flower arrangement to brighten up their home or office? Send flowers to thank those who showed you support throughout your educational journey. Flowers delivered to their doorstep will bring a smile to their face just like their support brought a smile to your face on graduation day.
7. Spend time with them
Your support system took a lot of time out of their busy lives to help you on your path to earning a college degree. Take time out of your busy life to show them that they matter to you. Take them to lunch or go for a walk. Spend time and nurture the friendship you share.
8. Pay it back
Your biggest supporters were there for you when you needed it, so say thank you by being there for them when they need it. Give them the help and support they need to help them accomplish their goals and achieve their dreams.
9. Pay it forward
Kindness can be inspiring. Take the joy that your supporters gave you and keep it going. Spread that kindness you were shown and share it with someone else, letting your supporters know that they made a difference not only for you but for others as well!
10. Keep it simple
A simple thank you can go a long way. Simply tell those who helped you during a challenging time how much their support meant to you. Explain to them how you couldn’t have earned your college degree without them and how you will never forget what they have done for you!
